US ANGLER’S CHOICE

North Indiana

Lake Tippecanoe

The third tournament of the 2008 North Indiana Angler’s Choice (Pro Tournaments) trail was to be Lake Tippecanoe, June 21st.   Registration opened at 4:45 AM. The lighting and clouds were moving out as the teams got registered.   We did our 50/50, giving items from our sponsors, from Gander Mountain (three rods, discount coupons), Touchdown Worm (certificates), Blackhawk Custom Outfitters (tackle packet), Bass Boat Saver (small bottle of BBS), 2007 Regional Shirts (Rick Byrnes), Angler’s Choice hat (Pro Tournaments). There were nineteen teams that entered!  With the temperature at 65 degrees F, wind out of the W at 5 mph at the start, the wind picked up to about 30 mph and the RAIN came with it!!  We got the sausages cooked and had all the iced water the anglers wanted as they got their boats out of the WHITE CAPPED water.  It rained and blew so hard that the canopies were blown away!  We retrieved then and had to move the sausages to the inside back of the trailer.   We set the scales next to the food and started the weigh-in.  Wouldn’t you know, the power went out.   Got the 12v converter out and moved the truck to where we could get the extension cord and got the scales fired back up.  Everyone looked like half drowned ratz by the time weigh-in was over.  The guys helped gather up the equipment and Paul and Jim stayed and helped put things back in the trailer.  Thanks to all of you for your patience and the help.   SOME ONE LEFT A BLUE ADULT LARGE LIFE JACKET ON THE GROUND.   LET ME KNOW WHO’S IT IS!!!

The Anglers started bringing their catches to the scales.  First to bring their fish were our helpers Paul Hollabaugh and Jim Betts.  Their five fish weighed 12.45.   This would hold up for second place check with a 4.16 largemouth.  The team of Tom Seljan. and partner Jim Wheeler  put five fish in the basket with a big 4.12lb largemouth.  The five weighed in at 11.57 lbs. This grabbed th third place check.  (Welcome back)   Gary Sroufe and Bob Roy had five fish at 12.87 pounds to get the FIRST place check.  They also had the days Big Bass a 4.29 largemouth.    They said their fish were eating jigs, frogs and tubes from the break near weeds to the bank with weeds.

  THANKS FOR FISHING WITH US

Sylvan Lake

Second Event

The second tournament of the 2008 North Indiana Angler’s Choice (Pro Tournaments) trail was to be Lake Shafer May 3rd !  This lake was changed twice.  First for our anglers that were fishing “The Bass Federation” Top-8 program.  That changed date was May 10th.   Because of the flood and all the debris that were washed into the lake they had to draw it down to clear all the hazards!  That date was changed to and is now September 6th!

Registration opened at 4:45 AM.  There were eighteen teams that entered!  With the temperature at 48 degrees F, wind out of the NW at 5 mph at the start, the wind picked up to about 20 mph and the sun was hot!  We got the sausages cooked and had all the iced water the anglers wanted as they finished their weigh-in.

The Anglers started bringing their catches to the scales.  First to bring their fish were our helpers Paul Hollabaugh and Jim Betts.  Their four fish weighed 5.07. Others brought 2 and 3 fish bags!  I had thought that the weigh-in would be one to remember!  I had talked to other fishermen that were fishing for other species and they were not doing very good!  The wife commented that the “cows were laying down”.   The team of Bruce Young, Jr. and partner Ken Franks  put five fish in the basket with a big 2.18 lb largemouth.  The five weighed in at 8.00 lbs.   Eric Foister and Jeff Geller had five fish at 8.17 pounds to get the third place check.   Chad Wrightsman and (sub) Dusty Clifton had five fish and they scaled out at 8.33 pounds to get second place.  Brothers Lee and Phillip Duracz ( pictured with their checks ) had five fish that weighed 10.10 pounds.  Their Big Bass was 3.73 pounds for the tournament.  They said their fish were eating jigs and tubes from the break near weeds to the bank.

We will see you at the next tournament!  June 21st at Tippecanoe.  Ramp at Tippecanoe Dance Hall  6:00am to 2:00pm.

Lake Wawasee

First Event

The first tournament of the 2008 North Indiana Angler’s Choice (Pro Tournaments) trail is now history.  We were there at 4:30am to set up for the anglers to begin registering to start their run at the Anglers of the Year and qualify for the AC Regional!  With the temperature at 38 degrees F, wind out of the North at 20 mph, there were twenty teams that entered to start the season!  As the day went, the weather also went (south), the wind picked up to about 25 – 30 mph with snow and some rain!  As we set up for the weigh-in the wind picked up one of our canopies and broke the frame.  The rain started again.  We managed to complete the weigh-in with out much else going wrong (you know the first tournament)!

The scales opened and the anglers started bringing their catches to the scales.  First to bring their fish were our helpers Paul Hollabaugh and Jim Betts.  Their four fish weighed 8.21 with a 2.36 for Big Bass.  Others brought 2 and 3 fish bags then the team of Mark Farver and Steve Kline put three fish in the basket with a big 3.99 lb Bass.  The three weighed in at 8.10 lbs.  Richard Delagrange fishing alone (partner John Linton was in Kansas delivering a trailer).  Richard had five fish at 9.26 pounds.   Gary Sroufe and Bob Roy also had five fish and they scaled out at 9.91 pounds.  This would hold up for the third place check.   Kelvin Michael and Jason Patterson brought four fish to the scales that weighed 11.26 for second, with a 4.64 fish to anchor their bag and give them the Big Bass for the tournament!  Brian Whitaker with sub Bill Whitaker  (Brian’s dad Don was in Florida with his wife enjoying the SUN!)  Brian and Bill had five fish that weighed 15.36 pounds.  Their Big Bass was 3.02 pounds.   They said their fish were eating jigs at the break near weeds.
