Lake: MAXINKUCKEE

The weather was clear with wind out of the W at about 5 mph.     We launched 25 boats for the tournament.  One pre-registered did not show along with the AoY’s from 2007.  It clouded up at about 11:30 AM with some sprinkles.  At 1:10 PM it started to rain.   After today we will have off until the St. Joe River Maggies August 17^th.  So with your free time come to Pine / Stone lakes in Laporte July 19^th.  It is the “Big Daddy” (Vance Parkhouse) tournament.  $100 entry and starting time is 5 AM Central time.  Proceeds will go  to Hospice!   So mark your tournament calendar for July 19^th !  

The   4^th Place team of Chris Collins (Plymouth) and Jason Alexander (Claypool) with 8.70 pounds for their five fish.   Weighing  in for 3^rd place was Dusty (Son) and Jeff (Dad) Clifton (Churubusco) with 8.94 pounds for their limit.   Second place went to Jim Hippensteel and Pat Cox (Rochester) with 9.49 pounds for their limit.  The FIRST place team RENEE and BRIAN HENSLEY (Edwarsburg, MI) with a bag of five fish scaling out at 9.66  pounds. They now have three first and a second.  What a run at “Angler’s of the Year”.  (Are they the Tiger Woods of Hoosier Pro Tournaments)?  There were nineteen teams that weighed in  limits!  The Big Bass of the tournament was a 2.78  Largemouth of Jerry and Larry Ummel. They just edged out a 2.71 Smallie!

         The first place team was using Green Pumpkin tubes.  They fished 3 - 26 foot of water.   

           The next tournament will be August 17^th at the St. Joe River, Maggies.   PARK in the field, please.  There will be a $5 Parking Fee.    Registration will be 4:30 am to 5:30 am.  Tournament hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Lake: SHAFER

The weather was clear with wind out of the W at about 5 mph.  Water was TOTALLY MUD!   We launched 19 boats for the tournament.  Two pre-registered did not show along with the AoY’s from 2007.   Maybe we will get everyone at Maxie?

The   4^th Place team of Jim Hippensteel and Pat Cox had 8.52 pounds for their five fish.   Weighing  in for 3^rd place was Dusty (Son) and Jeff (Dad) Clifton   with 9.01 pounds for their limit.   Second place went to Renee and Brian Hensely   with 9.49 pounds for their limit.  The FIRST place team PHIL DURACZ and KYLE PRSKALO with a bag of five fish scaling out at 10.47  pounds.  The top four teams were the only ones to have a limit! The Big Bass of the tournament was a 3.58  Largemouth by Mike Smith and Tom Wegiel (Team Rackham). They just edged out a 3.35 Smallie!

            The first place team was using Green Pumpkin tubes.  They fished 3 - 6 foot of water near piers.    They caught three limits of keepers.    

            The next tournament will be June 22 on Lake Maxinkuckee.   We will be launching  from the DNR ramp.  PARK at the Farm House South of the ramp and we will be shuttling you to the ramp.  There will be a $5 Parking Fee.   We will take off and weigh in at the BEACH.    Registration will be 4:30 am to 5:30 am.  Tournament hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  If you get tied up because of the construction make sure you call my cell ( 219-716-4808 )and let me know you will be there.

Sylvan Lake

June 1, 2008

                The morning was about 48 degrees but we had twenty-four teams that fished the 8 sunny and windy hours.    Two teams we expected did not show up to fish.   They must have done REALLY BAD pre-fishing!!!   From talking to the fishermen that were leaving the lake before our weigh-in, they said it was tough!  They were not even doing well on blue gill!  2-3 and 4 were their catches!

                Again First place went to Renee and Brian Hensley, Edwardsburg, MI with five fish weighing in at 7.58.  Just edging out the Second place  team of Mitch Bair of Columbia City, IN and Scott Sizemore of Albion, IN with five fish weighing 7.41 pounds.  Third place went to a NEW Father and Daughter team, Kari and Greg Bard, Huntington, IN with four fish at 6.40 pounds, one of which Kari caught! (This was Kari’s first tournament!)   Fourth place went to Richard Delagrange of Warsaw, IN fishing alone with four fish at 5.96.

NEXT TOURNAMENT is on SHAFER June 14, 2008.  Indiana Beach Camp Grounds Ramp and starting time is 6:00am to 2:00pm.

Lake Tippecanoe

April 13, 2008

                On a day of DRIZZLE, SLEET, SNOW, RAIN and WIND we had twenty-three teams that fished the 7 ½ hours.    It was a real surprise that we had that many teams show up to fish.   They really must like Tippecanoe in April!  Candy and I want to thank each team member for fishing with us!   Looking forward to seeing you all at Sylvan June 1st.

                The results were not what I had expected!  There was ONLY one limit of fish!  Two three’s and three with two and the remaining five with just one! Twelve teams had the EGG -- “0 “!  Twenty-Two fish were brought to weigh in.  They totaled out at 37.61 pounds.

                First place went to Renee and Brian Hensley, Edwardsburg, MI with five fish weighing in at 9.07.   This year we decided to change from the traditional plaques for First Place. Instead they were presented with Gator Grip bump boards provided by “SHERM’S MARINE” of Wabash, IN.  The boards have all information engraved on them as the plaques would have.  Thanks Sherm!    Second place was the team of Troy Goeman, Westville, IN. and Lee Duracz, Michigan City, IN.  with three fish and the BIG BASS (2.93) for 5.53 pounds.  Third place went to Tad Hepler, Niles, MI and Dave Eggors, Granger, IN with three fish at 4.54 pounds.  Fourth place went to Mark Lester, Marion, IN. and Jed Puckett, Upland, IN. with two fish at 3.89.
